Shreveport, LA — The Shreveport Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and Visit Shreveport-Bossier are launching a new initiative designed to connect conference attendees, event participants, and visiting professionals with downtown Shreveport businesses and all they need is their event badge.

The Show Me Your Badge program encourages attendees to explore the downtown district while supporting local restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. Visitors simply present their event or conference badge at participating businesses to receive a special discount, promotion, or offer.

From March 26-29, nearly 6,000 members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will be in Shreveport-Bossier for the 94th South Central Regional Conference. This city-wide conference will be the perfect launch to the program, as it creates a streamlined way for businesses to capture additional traffic and highlight unique experiences downtown.

“Downtown Shreveport plays a critical role in shaping visitors’ experiences when they come to our city,” said Cedric B. Glover, Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority. “The Show Me Your Badge program creates a direct connection between conference attendees and our downtown businesses. It’s a welcoming gesture that highlights downtown while helping our community benefit from the thousands of visitors in our district.”

Visit Shreveport-Bossier, the region’s official destination marketing organization, works to attract conventions, meetings, sporting events, and visitors to the area. In addition to bringing events to the region, the organization works to create a curated and welcoming experience that showcases everything Shreveport-Bossier has to offer. The Show Me Your Badge partnership helps ensure that visitors not only attend conferences and events downtown, but also explore the restaurants, entertainment, and activities that make Downtown Shreveport unique.

“A goal of Visit Shreveport-Bossier’s Destination Master Plan is to develop a unified Convention Center District to provide a dynamic meeting and convention attendee experience,” said Stacy Brown, President & CEO of Visit Shreveport-Bossier. “Programs like Show Me Your Badge help extend the visitor experience beyond the convention center and into the heart of downtown, allowing our guests to discover the incredible businesses, food, and culture that make our community special.”

As Shreveport-Bossier continues to attract conferences, meetings, and large-scale events, downtown businesses of all types are encouraged to participate. A variety of offers can be extended to badge holders, from discounts and special menu items to retail promotions or complimentary add-ons.

The Show Me Your Badge program is continuously open for downtown businesses to participate. Signing up to join now will bring added value to Downtown Shreveport, just in time for the busy spring and summer conference season. Participation in the program is free, and participating locations will be featured on promotional materials and the Show Me Your Badge website
