2025 is a milestone year for Shreveport, a time to honor the people, places, and pivotal moments that helped shape our city. As communities across the region mark important anniversaries, we invite you to join us in Downtown Shreveport on July 1st to reflect on our past and look boldly toward our future.
This special evening commemorates three major historic milestones:
-
190 Years Since the Signing of the Caddo Treaty — recognized as the founding date of Shreveport
-
40 Years Since the 1985 Sesquicentennial — the eleven-month celebration that united our community under Mayor John Hussey
-
Kickoff of the 10-Year Countdown to Shreveport’s Bicentennial in 2035
We will gather to recognize these legacies with a Downtown Reception hosted by the Shreveport DDA and emceed by Mark and Mike Mangham of Twin Blends.
Event Highlights:
-
Recognition of the Honorable John B. Hussey, former Shreveport Mayor and the 1985 Sesquicentennial leader, as our Grand Honoree and will lead us in the official launch to the countdown to 200.
-
Reflections from distinguished speakers including Judy Williams, Scott Hughes, and Arthur Thompson
-
Special Recognition of businesses, institutions, and individuals who played a role in the 1985 celebration and remain downtown today
