2025 is a milestone year for Shreveport,  a time to honor the people, places, and pivotal moments that helped shape our city. As communities across the region mark important anniversaries, we invite you to join us in Downtown Shreveport on July 1st to reflect on our past and look boldly toward our future.

You are invited to join us on July 1st at 4:00pm at the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce – 400 Edwards Street in Downtown Shreveport to celebrate historic milestones for our city.

This special event commemorates three major historic milestones:

  • 190 Years Since the Signing of the Caddo Treaty — recognized as the founding date of Shreveport
  • 40 Years Since the 1985 Sesquicentennial — the eleven-month celebration that united our community under Mayor John Hussey
  • Kickoff of the 10-Year Countdown to Shreveport’s Bicentennial in 2035

We will gather to recognize these legacies with a Downtown Reception hosted by the Shreveport DDA and emceed by  Mark and Mike Mangham of Twin Blends.

Event Highlights:

    • Grand Honoree Presentation: The Honorable John B. Hussey, former Mayor of Shreveport and leader of the 1985 Sesquicentennial, will be recognized and who will officially launch the countdown to Shreveport’s Bicentennial. Distinguished speakers will provide reflections of his service. They include  Judy Williams, Scott Hughes, and Former Bossier City Mayor, Don Jones.
    • Recognition of Legacy Contributors: Honoring businesses, institutions, and individuals for their continued impact on downtown today.
    • History of Shreveport’s Legacy: Dr. Gary Joiner will provide a historic look and reflection of the City of Shreveport’s past as we look towards its future.
