Mayor Tom Arceneaux, Chief Wayne Smith, and the Shreveport Police Department celebrated the opening of the new SPD facility at 430 Travis Street this week. Thanks to the community partners at SWEPCO, this new addition is set to increase SPD’s presence in our downtown area.
We heard from several community leaders and stakeholders. Mayor Arceneaux welcomed everyone and highlighted the opportunities the new SPD downtown facility will bring. SWEPCO President Brett Mattison shared the importance of this partnership and expressed pride in housing the City of Shreveport Police Department, and emphasizing their dedication to supporting downtown. Chief Smith discussed the benefits of the new facility and reaffirmed their commitment to serving the downtown community.
We also had a special appearance by Josie, one of the mounted patrol horses, which added a nice touch to the event. You’ll hopefully see Josie as she makes her rounds downtown.
The DDA is excited about having a visible police presence downtown and appreciates the continued support from our community.
