The Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau asked us to help publicize the following:

Press Conference at the American Rose Center (8877 Jefferson Paige Rd), Monday, April 22, 3:00 p.m. to discuss the national Jefferson Highway Association, the byway itself, and the group’s multi-day pilgrimage along the historic byway in route to their annual conference in Alexandria. The afternoon will also include the unveiling of Shreveport’s Jefferson Highway sign.

Approximately 25 members of the Jefferson Highway Association (JHA) will be meeting in Shreveport on Monday, April 22, and will take part in a 6 p.m. tour of the area with Robert Trudeau.  On Tuesday, April 23, at 9 a.m., the group will tour the Municipal Auditorium and have time with Shreveport’s James Burton before journeying north. The Shreveport stop is part of the Sociability Caravan that was popular in 1917 and early 1920’s when the highway was built and caravans would travel from Winnipeg, Canada all the way to New Orleans.
