The July Downtown Artwalk, presented by the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), was a resounding success, bringing together visitors from near and far for an evening of art, music, and community.

” The July Artwalk is in the books!” said Monica Rogers who organized the July Artwalk event ” So many people made their way downtown to enjoy the beautiful arts and crafts available for purchase, the delicious Artwalk food specials, live presentations, and some really great musical entertainment.”

One of the standout moments of the evening was Robert Trudeau’s captivating storytelling about the legendary Huddie Ledbetter. Trudeau’s tales were beautifully complemented by the young Chickadees, who serenaded the crowd with renditions of Ledbetter’s songs, adding a ideal musical backdrop to the event.

Artwalkers had the pleasure of exploring five vibrant downtown businesses:

  • One Texas Center
  • Noble Savage
  • 421 Texas (The Venues)
  • Pop N Pizza
  • Ashley’s Tiers of Love

Each location featured a diverse array of artists showcasing their talents through unique art, jewelry, clay works, paintings, books, and other one-of-a-kind handmade pieces. It was an experience for visitors to discover and support local talent.

After strolling through the art-filled buildings and enjoying the music attendees dined on food offerings at participating restaurants. As a sweet treat, Ashley’s Tiers of Love provided free cupcakes, which were a big hit while supplies lasted.

“What a night! Rogers stated ” I was thrilled to be asked to manage the Downtown Artwalk and am truly excited about the opportunity to work closely with our downtown businesses, the artists who contribute their talent, and spend time with the community in such a creative way.  Here’s to many more walks to come!”

If you missed the July Artwalk, don’t worry! We will be back in August to highlight another section of our wonderful Downtown Shreveport. Stay tuned for more details and get ready to experience another evening of creativity, community, and fun.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in July, and we can’t wait to see you again next month!
