Shreveport, LA — October 2025 — Downtown Shreveport has been chosen as the official kick-off location for the City of Shreveport’s National Night Out on Tuesday, October 7, at 4:30 PM. This citywide recognition is a tremendous honor and a chance to shine a spotlight on the downtown community, which is the place where people live, work, create, and connect every day.
Neighbors, block captains, and city officials from across Shreveport will gather in our city center to launch this annual tradition of community pride and partnership. But the celebration doesn’t stop there. Immediately following the kick-off, the 700 block of Texas Street will transform into “Neon Nights on Texas Street”, a block party inspired by the beloved 1990s downtown event Neon Saturday Night.
The evening promises something for everyone:
● High-energy music Krystal “Chica” Montez to keep the block party moving
● Interactive art experiences with Artwalk activities and live art demonstrations
● Tasty eats including hot dogs fresh off the grill and smoked queso
● Family fun with a dedicated children’s zone filled with games and activities
● Community connection through booths hosted by local organizations and resources
● 90’s flair and nostalgia woven throughout the event, bringing back the glow of a favorite downtown tradition
“National Night Out is about more than just a block party—it’s a celebration of community, connection, and the people who make our city shine,” said DDA Director Cedric B. Glover. “By hosting this event in Downtown Shreveport, we’re highlighting the energy, creativity, and community spirit that make our city center important to all of Shreveport. It is a place alive with activity, collaboration, and the spirit of community.”
Residents from every corner of Shreveport are invited to attend, participate, and share the experience with their families and neighbors. Whether you’re stopping by for the official kick-off, bringing the kids to the children’s zone, or staying to dance under the neon glow, this evening is designed to bring people together and highlight the unique character of Downtown Shreveport.
