The City of Shreveport will kick off its America 250 celebration with Red, White & Boom!, a community-wide event taking place Friday, May 29 beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Red River District in Downtown Shreveport!
This free, family-friendly event will mark the start of Shreveport’s participation in the nationwide America 250 initiative, commemorating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States while celebrating the spirit, history, and community of Shreveport.
Residents and visitors are invited downtown for an evening of live entertainment, family activities, local food and beverage specials, and a patriotic laser show.
Event Highlights
Free Treats
The first 500 children in attendance will receive a complimentary red, white and blue popsicle, courtesy of Brookshire’s Grocery.
Live Entertainment
Guests can enjoy performances throughout the evening featuring:
- The Curtis Mills Experience
- Shreveport Regional Jazz Ensemble
The entertainment lineup will include a mix of popular favorites and patriotic classics.
Family Activities
Activities for all ages will be available throughout the evening, including:
- Face painting
- Balloon artists
- Stilt walkers
- Line dancing will begin at 5:00 p.m. as part of the opening festivities.
- Laser Show Begins at 8:15 p.m.
Food and Beverage Specials
Businesses in the Red River District will also be participating with themed specials, including:
- G-Spot – Red, White and Blue Daiquiri
- Red River Social Club – Patriotic drink and food specials
