Shreveport, Louisiana, July 2, 2026 – Sci-Port Discovery Center is proud to announce it has officially received its award letter from the Louisiana Senate confirming a $400,000 state appropriation through House Bill 312/ ACT 961 for Fiscal Year 2026-2027.
This investment will support the expansion of Sci-Port’s educational programming while funding exciting improvements throughout the center, including the revitalizion of an exhibit gallery, the addition of new interactive exhibits, and enhancements that will create even more engaging STEM experiences for visitors for all ages.
Sci-Port extends its sincere gratitude to Senator Sam L. Jenkins, Jr., Representative Steven Jackson, and the Northwest Louisiana Delegation for their leadership and steadfast support in securing this funding. Their advocacy, along with the continued investment from the State of Louisiana, reflects a shared commitment to strengthening STEM education and enriching opportunities for children, families, and educators across Northwest Louisiana.

The Fiscal Year 2026-2027 appropriation will support the growth of established educational programs, the transformation of an existing exhibit gallery, the development of new interactive exhibits, and additional enhancements that will further position Sci-Port as a premier destination for STEM learning and exploration.
