Confetti fills the air at Caddo Common.

Downtown’s new urban greenspace is now- officially- a thing. On Monday, Oct. 28 all the donors and supporters gathered in the park for speeches and thanks followed by confetti and a ribbon cutting. All this is the precursor to Nov. 2, the date on which the serious stuff-in-the-park starts happening. At 1:30 Saturday, you’re invited to gather at artspace at 708 Texas Street to line up for the official opening parade. This parade will meander a bit before ending up at an installation in the park called ‘Rainbow City.’ The colorful Rainbow City will feature 40 inflatable sculptures and will be in place for the next 6 weeks.

An example of what Rainbow City will look like.

In addition to coming by to see the inflatables, we guarantee you will find SOMETHING to do. Programming in the park ranges from yoga and walking sessions to Sunday themed brunches and live music to the opportunity to hold private parties.

Come to one of the MANY events of the first few weeks that will range from photos with giant inflatable creatures to brunches in the park, yoga and exercise classes, drum circles, a 5K, art marketplaces, food trucks, and all kinds of performances. This small space has big plans and bigger dreams and we’re happy to welcome Caddo Common to downtown!

Here is the list of events for you to peruse.
