Once again, the Shreveport Farmer’s Market is in the running as one of the best in the country and so far, more than 500 of you have voted. That’s great, but we need more!

In 2022, the market was chosen as Number One in the State, 16th in the Southeast and 47th in the Nation in the most recent American Farmland Trust nationwide competition. The kudos came with a much-appreciated $10,000 award.

This year, we would love to do even better –  and how can we miss with all the great vendors, customers, live music and cooking demos each week?

Original Story Aug. 23, 2022

It is finally here, and we’re wiping away a tear because of it. Saturday, Aug. 28 is the final Shreveport Farmers’ Market of the 2021 season. The summer event at Festival Plaza has been a wonderful one- Saturdays filled with fresh produce, breads, flowers, coffee drinks, goat’s milk soaps, plants and garden ornaments and a variety of ready-to-eat foods.

In spite of the freezing weather in the spring and the heat of summer, it was a bumper crop year for delicious homegrown tomatoes, cucumbers, berries, peaches and corn–all of which tasted better than ever. This Saturday there should also be purple hull peas available!

Musician Joan Nerrittig will be taking the market out on a high note with tunes throughout the morning. Come by, pick up some farm fresh items and say goodbye to all your friends until next year! The Shreveport Farmers’ Market is open 7:30-12:30. We’ll see you there!

August 19, 2021 article-

The countdown to the final Saturday is on for the Shreveport Farmers’ Market and we will be sad to see it go. Luckily, we have two more weekends (Aug.21 & 28) to load up on fresh produce, breads, coffee, desserts, donuts, plants, jellies, art, soap, lotions, meats and all the wonderful variety of items that make the Farmers Market so very wonderful.

The hours are 7:30a- 12:30p, bring small bills (or a credit card), a couple or more bags to haul away your tasty treasures, and a smile. You’ll get a lot of those in return, plus a whole bunch more.

While there, enjoy tunes by Jesse Rawlinson. Entry to the market is FREE. Parking nearby is FREE. The fun is FREE. What could be better?
