Once again, the Shreveport Farmer’s Market is in the running as one of the best in the country and so far, more than 500 of you have voted. That’s great, but we need more!
In 2022, the market was chosen as Number One in the State, 16th in the Southeast and 47th in the Nation in the most recent American Farmland Trust nationwide competition. The kudos came with a much-appreciated $10,000 award.
This year, we would love to do even better – and how can we miss with all the great vendors, customers, live music and cooking demos each week?
This year, the market has upped its game with giant strawberries, Mimosas, coffee demonstrations, and a fabulous variety of all things produce, farm-related & produced, fresh-made and creatively-inspired. If you have not been, know that the Shreveport Farmers’ Market is a magical and happy place, a favorite gathering spot for all.
Here’s how you can help with the Farmland Trust vote! First, click here. Then, vote for the Shreveport Farmers’ Market.
P.S. the fun this weekend continues from 7:30 am- 12:30 am at Festival Plaza with music by Dexter Duran & a cooking demo by Chef Melvin Nelson, Jr.
We’ll see you at the market!

The state win means a $10,000 dollar award for the Farmers Market and some well-deserved bragging rights!
“We are honored to be named the number one farmers’ market in the great state of Louisiana,” said Market Manager Emerie Eck Gentry. “Our vendors, staff and volunteers work year-round to ensure that we provide a quality market to our community with access to fresh, nutritious food and goods produced by local farmers and artisans. This designation is something we can all be proud of.”
We love our Farmers Market and can’t wait to be able to celebrate again with them in person in 2023! Congratulations to all who played a role in the market and to all who voted for the Shreveport Farmers’ Market!
Original Story Aug. 23, 2022
It is finally here, and we’re wiping away a tear because of it. Saturday, Aug. 28 is the final Shreveport Farmers’ Market of the 2021 season. The summer event at Festival Plaza has been a wonderful one- Saturdays filled with fresh produce, breads, flowers, coffee drinks, goat’s milk soaps, plants and garden ornaments and a variety of ready-to-eat foods.
In spite of the freezing weather in the spring and the heat of summer, it was a bumper crop year for delicious homegrown tomatoes, cucumbers, berries, peaches and corn–all of which tasted better than ever. This Saturday there should also be purple hull peas available!
Musician Joan Nerrittig will be taking the market out on a high note with tunes throughout the morning. Come by, pick up some farm fresh items and say goodbye to all your friends until next year! The Shreveport Farmers’ Market is open 7:30-12:30. We’ll see you there!

The countdown to the final Saturday is on for the Shreveport Farmers’ Market and we will be sad to see it go. Luckily, we have two more weekends (Aug.21 & 28) to load up on fresh produce, breads, coffee, desserts, donuts, plants, jellies, art, soap, lotions, meats and all the wonderful variety of items that make the Farmers Market so very wonderful.
The hours are 7:30a- 12:30p, bring small bills (or a credit card), a couple or more bags to haul away your tasty treasures, and a smile. You’ll get a lot of those in return, plus a whole bunch more.
While there, enjoy tunes by Jesse Rawlinson. Entry to the market is FREE. Parking nearby is FREE. The fun is FREE. What could be better?
