On Friday, October 5, hundreds of spectators will gather in the 700 block of Texas Street to see five local chefs compete for the coveted Louisiana Food Prize Golden Fork award.  Much like Iron Chef on TV, these chefs will be given a batch of surprise ingredients and then told to create something fabulous in a short period of time with lots of people watching.

Watching the entertaining competition should make you both hungry and thirsty, so what should you do then? This year, for the first time ever, Prize Fest and the Downtown Development Authority will give you the opportunity to take your love of food and drink deep into the night with the inaugural Downtown Food Crawl.

Crunchy Sweet Potato Taco topped with Jalapeno Butter and Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, available that night at Parish Taceaux.

The Food Crawl will kick off right as the Golden Fork ends. Look for the Food Crawl table at Prize Central (in front of Tipitina’s) to get your official Food Crawl Map and Game. This is your ticket to ride and win! DDA will have the Shreveport Limousine Trolley on site so that you can jump on to get to the various locations. It will be your choice: walk, skip, run, bike, drive or trolley around Downtown Shreveport!

From 8:30 until 11:30 pm, a lucky 13 different downtown restaurants and bars will have one-night-only Downtown Food Crawl food and drink specials.

Chicken Margherita Flatbread

These specials will feature such items as a crunchy sweet potato taco topped with jalapeno butter and toasted pumpkin seeds or a Margherita chicken flatbread, a chorizo burger, stuffed shrimp, Food Prize Fried Chicken tossed in a Serrano Honey Glaze and served with house made Mac & Cheese or a giant brownie and ice cream. Top it off with beverages such as ‘The Dark Lady’ made of vodka, lemonade and blackberries or a Viva and fall pear margarita.

After the Golden Fork Award simply look for the Food Crawl table and the big white trolley nearby!
