YPI Lunch and Learn presents: MPC, UDC and Me

We have all heard the complaints —steady population decline, stagnant growth and outdated policies towards development. For years, many citizens have come to realize that Shreveport’s current zoning ordinance —most of which was written in the 1950s— is archaic, often resulting in inconsistent decision-making and a poor quality of life for it residents. So what are the solutions? Can Shreveport, long ridiculed as the epitome of development stagnation, be ready to discover its true potential? The answer is in the proposed Unified Development Code (UDC), which aims to direct growth, development, and reinvestment. The UDC will consolidate the current regulations by streamlining the application process and creating a better quality of life where business, as well as residents, can grow and thrive.

Please join Mark Sweeney, Executive Director of the Shreveport | Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission, for a conversation about a new path toward development through the proposed Unified Development Code. He will discuss how it will lay the foundation to make Shreveport a better place to live, work, and play… easily allowing it to become the next great City of the South.
