Join us on Tuesday, Feb 28 starting at 6:30 for the first ever, wild and crazy 1/4 mile, Fat Tuesday in Shreve Town Walking Parade starting at the Municipal Auditorium. It’s FREE, just come dressed as crazy as possible! There will be a prize for the best outfit. A Better Shreveport is a co-sponsor and the Downtown Development Authority is partnering on the event.
This year we honor Shreveporter Annie McCune, a Madam with a heart of gold. We’ll go to her grave in the Oakland Cemetery to hear her story, then onto the Elvis Statue at the Municipal Auditorium to sing a song or two Karaoke style with a few Elvis characters, to Aseana Garden where we will be greeted by a few Gems of Cairo belly dancers to help usher in the Chinese year of the “Fire Chicken”. We’ll head to a some new rehabbed buildings on Texas St and catch beads from the balcony of Joseh Guin’s Salon, visit the exhibit of the Mardi Gras Indians in Artspace. Enjoy the after party at the new Rhino Coffee in the new Lofts@624 with live music by the Red River Valley Band from 7 -9 in the lobby. Order food and drinks and their individual King Cakes for dessert! Across the lobby Seasons Salon and Events is hosting a Shreveport Bossier Wine Lovers’ Club wine tasting. Get a crazy picture at Picture Perfect Selfies photo booth while there. Buy a Mardi Gras tshirt from our local Sweet Tees. Let the good times Walk!
