Sep 23 @ 11:00 am – 9:00 pm

OK, we’re going to share a secret that we have kept to ourselves for a long time because it means more enchiladas for us! Every Monday and Tuesday, Nicky’s Mexican Restaurant in the Red River District offers 2-for-1 enchilada meals! This is a GREAT deal. Not only is it two meals for the price of one (these are the dinner enchilada plates and they are large)- we generally get FOUR meals for the price of one. Multiple enchilada options from sour cream chicken enchilada plates to fajita steak enchiladas with ranchero sauce. We LOVE them! Come by and sit on the patio and Iris, Jasmine, Daphne and Julie will make sure you’re treated like one of the family.

Come see our 130-year-old Victorian treasure! The McNeill pumping station is a turn-of-the-century (the LAST century, that is) water works that was THE LAST KNOWN STEAM-POWERED MUNICIPAL WATER TREATMENT PLANT IN THE UNITED STATES when its steam engines were finally retired in 1980.

Ask for Kevin to be your tour guide and show you the wonders that engineers working with pencil, paper and slide rule 100 years ago were able to accomplish. This is a go-not-miss while in Shreveport!

A NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK AND A NATIONAL CIVIL ENGINEERING LANDMARK

The Shreveport Water Works Museum is free and open to the public, but DONATIONS are happily accepted. Though the Museum belongs to the City of Shreveport, the Museum Friends, the McNeill Street Pumping Station Preservation Society (We know. Oct 14 @ 11:00 am – 9:00 pm

Dec 9 @ 11:00 am – 9:00 pm

SSHM Go back in time to the early days of Shreveport; learn about life in a rough and tumble western town, walk the muddy streets and learn about the men and women who made Shreveport the timber, cotton, and oil capital of the region.

Learn about the Great Raft, our heroes and zeroes, the ladies of the evening with hearts of gold, the Yellow Fever epidemic that nearly wiped us off the map, giant fires, gunfights in the street and local architectural wonders.

This amazing amount of information is all housed in one of the oldest buildings in the city, former bank, former bar, now museum. We guarantee you will leave saying “I never knew that” but wanting to know even more!
