Downtown Shreveport loves friends, and this week we picked out a gentleman to thank for that friendship. Michael Mackey has been a Sales Consultant at
Rountree Ford – Lincoln for 32 years. Several months ago, we started noticing that Michael was liking and sharing a lot of our
Facebook posts about good things happening downtown, and inviting his friends to learn more. We appreciate that so much because we WANT people to know about all the activity happening here, the history and building renovations and events.
Michael Mackey and Caleb King, co-owner of Dripp Donuts
When I asked him why he was sharing the posts, Michael told me he likes what he sees, that he knows we are trying to promote downtown and that he considers downtown a special place. As a child, he remembers getting clothes at the National Shirt Shop, which is now the building that
Pop N Pizza calls home. He has seen the revitalization in other downtowns and is happy to see things happening here, too. Michael wants his community to be a better place and sharing the posts is one way he can help us and other organizations dear to him.
Michael choosing his box of Dripp Donuts. Yum!
That was really sweet and we wanted to do something for Michael, so we asked him to come to Dripp Donuts and choose a dozen beautiful donuts and kolaches to take to his family and co-workers. We told him that we appreciate him being a Friend to Downtown, and that he won’t be the last.
A box full of flavor!
Every day we come across people who are friends to downtown. They are sharing their love of downtown, and doing dozens of different small and wonderful things that are ultimately making downtown a better place. Do you have someone you would like to nominate as a downtown friend? Email here and tell us their name, how to contact them, and a little about what they are doing to make you think their lives should become a little sweeter!
