Artists have a special way of transforming their vision into visible enjoyment, encouragement, and inspiration for others. Baylor is no different. His larger-than-life murals are making an impact throughout the Shreveport community and downtown. Baylor brings his message of hope and motivation for others to life using massive walls as his canvas. His art encourages unity, appreciation of history, and aspiration for the future. Baylor’s work adorns several columns with incredibly colorful murals on the Marshall Street underpass – named the Ascension Underpass. The mural was a collaboration with artists Eric Francis, Willie A. Love, and Ben Moss. Baylor’s message of hope is clear on the “From Shreveport with Love” mural at the corner of Crockett and Edwards on the west wall of the Sockrider, Anglin, Bolin, & Batte Law Firm. The vibrant mural, funded by a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts American Rescue Plan Subgrants through the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, speaks volumes about Baylor’s talent and his love for community. The Juneteenth commemorative “Absolute Equality” mural proudly proclaims the importance of acceptance, unity, and justice. The collaboration, a private-public partnership between Envision Media & Marketing and the Shreveport Regional Arts Council was funded by grants from the Caddo Parish Commission, City of Shreveport, and a donation by The Office Hub. The striking mural includes a poem, “Across the Sea” by PoeticX, Caddo Parish Poet Laureate. Ka’Davien Baylor is using his ability and vision to uplift, encourage, and inspire others.
