There’s always that one ( or two, or ten) people on your holiday shopping list that are problematic. You know ‘that’ person. He has everything and what he wants, he buys. She wants nothing, and only likes specific colors, scents, styles.

Fret no more.

We have discovered yet again during our Lunch on Us lunch coupon program that EVERYONE loves free eats. We all eat multiple times a day and yet- we always seem to be wondering what our next meal will be. (Planning is not our strong suit.) Additionally, we all love eating on someone else’s nickel.

Downtown Shreveport has great food and good options and here is where your gift-giving salvation will be found. Gift Cards and Certificates to be used over the next year. Take a look!

Bon Asian Cafe– 300 Edwards St. in the Beck Building.
It is remarkable how this tiny space and postage stamp-sized kitchen can push out such a large, delicious menu variety. Especially popular are the daily $10 specials that come with eggroll and drink. Choose from Miso, Ramen, rice noodle and Udon soups, bountiful and fresh sushi roll choices, teriyaki plates, stir-fry and vegetarian options. A friend got the $3 seaweed salad last week and said it was the best he had ever eaten.
Gift Cards are available in store.

The Noble Savage- 417 Texas St.
This is a great lunch or date-night choice, with music most nights starting at 8 pm and big name bands on the weekends. Pool, too!
Enjoy big burgers and a wide menu of items from appetizers to entrees to desserts and a pretty spectacular bar.
Gift cards are available in store and online.

Rhino Coffee– 624 Texas St.

Dripp Donuts– 421 Market St.
The sourdough donuts that should own the world and do own downtown. Flavors, toppings, and fillings change regularly. Enjoy sweet treats or savory meat-filled kolaches. Coffee and tea drinks, and specialty sodas, too. Every Wednesday downtown is Hot Chicken Sandwich day and it is truly a Hump Day to look forward to.

Pop N’ Pizza– 500 Texas St.
Pop N’ Pizza is revered as the best pizza in the region by many, and we would count ourselves in that legion. Go by for the $8 meat- and cheese packed calzone, the $10 wing combo special, the injected cheese sticks, the cinnamon sticks and the pizza, of course. The pies come loaded down with ingredients, hot from the oven and cheesy.
Keep an eye on their Facebook page for game- and special event nights.
Gift Cards are available in store.

Abby Singer’s Bistro Debuts New Menu|| Nov. 30, 2023

Abby Singer’s Bistro

Robinson Film Center’s popular second floor eatery is making some changes they hope will enhance customers’ dining experience in multiple ways. “We’re trying to streamline our service,” says Brandon Manning, Abby Singer’s Bistro’s Manager and RFC Event Director. “We’re hoping to speed up the process while maintaining a great dining experience.” Manning says many of the meals ordered at Abby Singer’s end up in theaters, eaten while customers watch a movie. “We’re doing away with things that need forks,” he says, a nod to making it easier to dine in a dark theater.

RFC is also adding a kiosk in the lobby for movie customers to order an appetizer, snack or full meal that will be delivered to them in the theater as they watch their movie.

Fans of Abby Singer’s know that there has always been a separate lunch menu and a dinner menu, but no more. “We have just one full menu now,” says Manning. There are new things like the Get Shorty hot chicken sandwich that was debuted in the summer as the burger of the month and did extremely well, and the most popular favorites are remaining.” The dishes that were dropped, according to Manning, were the least popular and took the longest to prepare.

Other big changes will be coming to the bistro with the new year, including a long-needed update with new furnishings, lighting and colors. Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation is proud to be sponsoring the soon-to-be-upgraded lighting scheme.

In the meantime, Abby Singer’s Bistro Wants You- both to come dine on new items and returning favorites- and as an employee.

Positions they are looking to fill include Event Assistant and Concession Team Member.
