July 4th weekend will end with a ‘bang’ downtown, but there’s a lot to enjoy before the fireworks! The  July SBC Glo Fest is the 800-pound gorilla, but there’s more to experience.

The long holiday weekend kicks off with the Shreveport Farmers’ Market at Festival Plaza. The Saturday musical guest is Dexter Duran (8:30-10:30am) and the cooking guest is Peter Lyons of Lyons Pride Coffee, with his engaging talk/demo on easy, refreshing ways to enjoy your coffee this summer. (11 am). The market is at peak produce right now, with a world of fresh choices as well as a variety of ready to eat and easy to cook items, soaps, plants, lotions, and more! The market is open 7:30 am- 12:30 pm.

From the Farmers’ Market, walk over to an event premiering this Saturday in the Red River District under the Texas Street Bridge; the Ark-La-Tex Pop Up Shop.

The event will feature a variety of vendors with everything from cute clothing to body oils and other beauty products, spices, jewelry, inspirational items and more. Enjoy the music on stage, too! The Pop Up vendor event runs from noon- 6 pm, free entry.

Adult- only weekend fun starts with the Sizzling Summer Shows at Lake Street Bar, 315 Lake St. The Saturday and Sunday shows featuring JBrown & Band and Sax Vs. Strings promise ‘real music, culture and mature vibes.’ The shows are 35+ events and are $15 general admission and $20 VIP.
