The Shreveport Downtown Development Authority (DDA) extends its sincere appreciation to Governor Jeff Landry, Representative Steven Jackson, Senator Sam Jenkins, Senator Thomas Pressly, and the entire Northwest Louisiana legislative delegation for their support during the recently concluded legislative session. For the second consecutive year, Representative Jackson and the delegation secured state funding that will be matched dollar-for-dollar through local investments to support initiatives focused on strengthening and advancing Downtown Shreveport.

Representative Jackson’s commitment to Downtown Shreveport extends back to his service in the Shreveport Mayor’s Office, where he played an integral role in projects such as the City’s acquisition of the Red River District, the development of residential, commercial, and educational assets within the 600 block of Texas Street, and the advancement of the Shreveport Common vision.

Since being elected to public office, first to the Caddo Parish Commission and now to the Louisiana House of Representatives, Representative Jackson has continued to champion transformational projects for downtown. He led the effort to fund and construct Caddo Common Park and has also secured funding that helped transform the DDA’s popular “Lunch On Us” program into the “Lunch & Discover Series”. Which is a biweekly initiative that brings together downtown restaurants, retailers, residents, and employees through live music, great food, engaging speakers, and valuable networking opportunities.

As a result of this year’s state appropriation, these efforts will continue to grow and expand. The DDA looks forward to building on this momentum through continued partnerships with state, local, and federal leaders as it advances the ongoing revitalization and development of Downtown Shreveport.
