february-artwalk

Mark February 1 on your calendar for the fun February artwalk! We’ll be celebrating Black History Month with a very special exhibit at the Southern University Museum of Art-Shreveport (SUMAS).

Multiple locations including SUMAS, artspace, the Lofts at 624, the Marlene Yu Museum, Tipitina’s and others will be hosting artists, exhibits, live museum and hands-on activities for all ages. Maps of the route will be available at each location; start anywhere you would like and make your way from there. All on-street parking is free after 5 pm, and the surface lots in front of First United Methodist Church are free and open to all.

Venues are (in no particular order; subject to change):

Southern University Museum of Art At Shreveport – Sumas – 610 Texas Street
Marlene Yu Museum – 710 Travis Street
Seasons Salon & Events – 624 Texas Street
Artspace Shreveport – 710 Texas Street
Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op Shreveport – 700 Texas Street

And others still to come!

Wondering where should you park?

All on-street parking is free after 5 pm. The following parking lots (more to be added) are free as a courtesy for the Artwalk:

• FUMC Parking Lot (at Common & Texas St.)

The Downtown Artwalk is FREE to attend and open to all ages (except for 21+ venues, of course!). Maps will be provided at each stop and on our Facebook event page (coming soon).

Walk, bike, drive or roll through the route. You’ll be greeted by artists, musicians, and more as you stroll the street during artwalk

Remember that you can start at any location, walk in any direction, even circle back a few times. Be daring and make your own rules!
