F. Keith Todaro
It has been a tough few days for downtown and for the relatives, friends, and business associates of two men who have played a large role here.
Keith Todaro, the longtime owner of the business and building that comprised M.L. Bath Office Supplies at 610 Market Street, died at age 67. He is survived by the loves of his life- his wife Brenda, and daughters Aubrey and Courtney.
Keith served on the board of the Downtown Development Authority and his dedication toward a better downtown was always at the forefront in all of his decisions. He was not afraid of asking the hard questions and in coming to independent conclusions, but always in a generous, thoughtful, and respectful way.
Services for Keith are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 13 at 9:30 am (Rosary) and 10 am (Mass) at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 315 Marshall St.
James ‘Jim’ Malsch, Jr.
Downtown was also rocked to learn of the passing of 60 year old Jim Malsch, a man who came to be a part of downtown far more recently.
Jim was welcomed to downtown Shreveport in August of 2019, the proud owner of a building that needed a new chance. Over the next two years, work progressed on the building at 717 Crockett that would become a beacon for the Shreveport Common Arts & Culture District and a bellwether for downtown, the Andress Artist and Entrepreneur Center.
Jim meant much to many, serving on a number of boards including Cohab, Sci-Port Discovery Center, and more recently, the Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation (DSDC). He was a thoughtful board member, a willing partner in projects, a mentor, supporter and good friend. Above all, he was kind. He will be remembered for his easy laugh, his smile, and his refusal to speak negatively of anyone.
Services for Jim are scheduled at The Simple Church at the Shreveport Convention Center, 400 Caddo St. on Saturday, Oct. 14. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m.
