The Retro Downtown Cafe is in its final stages of permitting and prep prior to opening. The DDA is told only one more inspection is left to pass, along with some final tweaks to the menu and interior decor, then, a few days of ‘all hands on deck’ practice. Once the kitchen and front of house is dialed in, owner Kristi Tift says it will be time to open.

No firm details yet on much, but in past conversations, Kristi has talked about breakfast all day and the opportunity to purchase homemade baked goods. More recent chats have mentioned chicken, fish, beignets, chicken and waffles and fresh salads.

If you’ve been to their first ‘Retro’ restaurant – the Retro 521 in the East Bank District– you’ll know that they have a way with sandwiches, salads and a delicious tea that goes by the name of ‘Flower Child.’ This isn’t Kristi and team- Kandie Winchester, D’Anna Allen, Cassie Eaby’s first culinary rodeo and they are very aware that businesses have one chance to make a great first impression. Stay tuned for more!
