In the past two years, the number of downtown murals has grown by leaps and bounds and many of the painted murals have felt the brush of artist Ka’Davien Baylor.

Ka’Davien, ‘KD’ to friends, first popped back on the Shreveport art scene in 2020 with a mural at 1533 Marshall Street called Leaders of Tomorrow, and there was no looking back.

Since then he has either led or been a key artist in multiple of downtown’s painted murals including the large scale Ascension I-20 underpass mural on Marshall Street, the From Shreveport, With Love mural in the 300 block of Crockett Street, and the Juneteenth Absolute Equality mural in the 400 block of Edwards.

In fact, there has been so much new artwork in this corridor that it has won the name the Marshall Mural Mile.

Baylor has also made his artistic mark in neighborhoods around the city and the Shreveport City Council wanted to recognize his artistic contributions with a Resolution honoring his accomplishments. Not surprisingly, the vote was unanimous. Congratulations, Ka’Davien and we wish you many more colorful, beautiful, community-engaging projects!
