DDA Brings Urban Century: America’s Return to Main Street to Robinson Film Center

On Thursday, August 6 at 5:30 pm, the Downtown Development Authority and Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation are joining with Robinson Film Center to host the Shreveport premier of Urban Century: America’s Return to Main Street. The documentary that is drawing rave reviews from around the country, focuses on the huge changes taking place in cities’ urban cores.

After decades of decline due to suburban sprawl, downtowns across the country are once again becoming vibrant, desirable destinations to live, work, and play, Examining this current rebirth of Main Street through the lens of several towns, including Flint, MI and Joplin, MO, Urban Century takes a refreshingly hopeful look at how these places from our past are becoming the key to our country’s future.  Whether economic downturn, climate change, or health issues, could the solutions to our biggest problems be as simple as returning to our urban roots? Find out what the experts are saying and what amazing changes are sweeping the nation.

The 69-minute documentary will roll at 5:30 on Thursday, August 6. Afterwards, DDA Executive Director Liz Swaine will give brief remarks about changes coming to downtown Shreveport and will take questions.
