Amanda Roe Exhibition – Selfies: From Digital to Physical – Selfies—the President, rock stars, famous athletes, and the rest of us have all become obsessed with self images on our cell phones. These icons of self reflection are the focus of Northwest Louisiana artist Amanda Roe’s most recent work “SELFIES: From Digital to Physical” opening at artspace Thursday, January 14 at 5:00 pm. At 710 Texas St., Shreveport. Reception is free and open to the public. Cool nibbles, cash bar, live music, and happy hours at truckspace@artspace, featuring area food trucks.

Amanda’s Selfies exhibition is a painted re-imagining of the selfie into a self portrait.  The symbols visible in the “Selfie” series are a reflection of online imagery filled with emotes such as 🙂 or ;P, symbols like a #, ^, @, and many more.  Amanda states, “I sought to disconnect from social media and physically recreate my selfies people either liked on Facebook or loved on Instagram, utilizing a myriad of shapes symbols and colors.”
